It is with a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my last surviving grandparent, a member of “The greatest generation” my beloved grandmother. Last night in her sleep with family by her side and listening to southern gospel music, she passed of natural causes peacefully- at an incredible age of 99. She was always a strong woman, even in her last moments still strong and of sound mind but ultimately realizing her physical body could no longer keep up with her endless spirit. Nothing has mattered more to me these past few months than the comfort and care of my grandmother, as I have taken these months for personal reflection and peace while dreading this moment. To think of what she’s lived through in her lifetime.. multiple wars, many civil unrests, dozens of presidencies, the rise of technology and fall of economies, gives me hope that we will all live through this as she has lived through so much and this too shall pass. Her love of God and passion for this country, Appalachian pride and quiet strength was instilled within me. Please send a prayer, love or thought.. because if you know me, you know Golda Glasgow. As her profound legacy has lead me to be the person I am today.
