Obituary of Lou Hsiu Ying Bailey

Lou Hsiu Ying Bailey, 81, of Wytheville Virginia, passed away on December 27, 2020 after a battle with life. Lou was born on June 24, 1939 to Lu Tian Ding and Lu Hsieh Wu Mei in Miaoli, Taiwan. After leaving the rice fields of Taiwan, she landed her first job as an Avon sales representative and as a bagger for the commissary for 20+ years. In 1969, she met Joseph Franklin Bailey, and they wed in 1970, going on to have 2 children, George Lou Huie Faung Bailey and Joseph Lou Bailey. When Lou had George and Joseph, she decided to dedicate her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. Lou excelled at propping up family and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Whether that was supporting Joseph Franklin through the military, college, and working as a correctional officer, or George and Joseph Lou through sports, college, and artist passions, she made it her mission to improve the lives of others. Lou was a passionate mahjong, slot machine, and bingo player and when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, or working, she could be found at Rose’s playing mahjong, at the casinos playing slots, or at the local Moose Lodge playing bingo with her husband. She will be missed greatly. Lou was predeceased by her parent’s Lu Tian Ding and Lu Hsieh Wu Mei and one brother. She is survived by Lu Rong Tau (brother), Wu Be Rong (brother), Hsieh Yu Chiao (sister), Joseph F. Bailey (husband), George Bailey (son), Melissa Bailey (daughter-in-law), Joseph L. Bailey (son), Jennie Gallego (significant other), Abigail Bailey (granddaughter), Jacob Bailey (grandson), Piper Bailey (granddaughter), Riley Bailey (granddaughter), Donovan Bailey (grandson), Dorien Bailey (grandson). The family requests that all flowers, donations, and notes are sent to their home (285 Dogwood Drive Wytheville, VA 24382). There will be a celebration of life will be held 11 A.M. on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Sunday from 10 A.M. until service time.
