Obituary of Mark Shane Huff, Sr.

MARK SHANE HUFF, SR., 54, OF WYTHEVILLE, VA, PASSED AWAY ON FEBRUARY 5, 2021 AT DUKE UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL FOLLOWING A SHORT ILLNESS. MARK WAS PRECEEDED IN DEATH BY HIS FATHER, ROBERT “BOB” HUFF, AND PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS, HOMER AND RUTH HUFF, MATERNAL GRANDPARENTS, CLIFFORD AND TEXAS SWANSON. MARK IS SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE OF 22 YEARS, SHEILA HUFF; DAUGHTER, SYDNEY HUFF (BOYFIREND MAURICIO); SON, SHANE HUFF. MARK IS ALSO SURVIVED BY HIS MOTHER, MARY HUFF; BROTHER AND SISTER-IN-LAW, MIKE AND ALICIA HUFF; NIECES, ASHLEY AND ALLY HUFF; NEPHEW, MICHAEL HUFF; MOTHER-IN-LAW AND FATHER-IN-LAW, PETER GREENE AND SANDRA BLOXOM; FATHER-IN-LAW AND MOTHER-IN-LAW, ROBERT AND GAIL BLOXOM; BROTHER-IN-LAW, RICK BLOXOM; UNCLE, CURTIE SWANSON; AUNTS, JANE DEEDS AND ALMA EDWARDS AND MANY COUSINS. MARK ALSO HAS 2 FOSTER KIDS THAT LIVED WITH HIM AND SHEILA, JAMEL FLOYD AND TREY RAINEY. MARK ALSO LEAVES BEHIND GODCHILDREN, JR., KAM, KAMILLIA JONES AND KELVIN AND JALEN PENN. MARK WAS BORN IN LOUISVILLE, KY AND MOVED SEVERAL OTHER PLACES BEFORE HIS PARENTS SETTLED IN WYTHEVILLE, VA. TO ESTABLISH BOB HUFF CHEVROLET. MARK GRADUATED 1984 FROM GEORGE WYTHE HIGH SCHOOL AND THEN RECEIVED HIS BS IN SPORTS MANAGEMENT FROM WESTERN CAROLINA IN 1991. AFTER GRADUATION MARK STARTED AN INTERNSHIP WITH A NHRA PRO-CUP DRAG CAR TEAM, WORKING WITH JOE LEPONE. WHILE DRAG RACING MARK TRAVELED ALL OVER THE US AND EVEN TO JAPAN. AFTER LEAVING DRAG RACING MARK FOUND HIS TRUE PASSION IN STOCK CAR RACING. MARK ALONG WITH TONY JONES, JR. A NFL TWO TIME SUPERBOWL CHAMP AND 2 TIME PRO-BOWL PLAYER DECIDED TO FORM THEIR OWN STOCK CAR TEAM AND NAMED IT T-BONE MOTORSPORTS. JOHNNY RUMLEY LONG TIME FRIEND SIGNED ON TO DRIVE FOR THE TEAM. AFTER A LONG SUCCESSFUL STINT WITH THIS TEAM, MARK TOOK A BREAK TO MARRY SHEILA AND START A FAMILY. MARK ONLY LASTED AWAY FROM RACING FOR A SHORT TIME WHERE HE THEN STARTED AGAIN AND WORKED WITH SEVERAL SUCCESSFUL TEAMS. MARK BECAME CREW CHIEF FOR REGAN SMITH. REGAN BECAME ONE OF MARKS BEST LIFE LONG FRIENDS. AFTER WORKING WITH REGAN, MARK HELPED SEVERAL TEAMS UNTIL HE MET A YOUNG DRIVER NAMED CODIE ROHRBAUGH WHO ALSO BECAME MARKS OTHER “SON”. MARK AND CODIE HAVE SPENT THE LAST SEVERAL YEARS RACING TOGETHER. MARK ALSO BECAME LIKE A SON TO CODIE’S FAMILY, PAP AND JANIE, BROTHER TO APRIL AND TOMMY, TONYA AND JASON, JAMIE AND JOSH AND SISSY. MARK LOVED SPENDING TIME WITH HIS CHILDREN AND MAKING SURE THEY HAD ALL THE LOVE AND ADVANTAGES OF A GREAT DAD. MARK TRAVELED ALL OVER TAKING SHANE AND SYDNEY TO ANY SPORTING EVENT THEY WANTED TO ATTEND. MARK WAS AN EXCEPTIONAL MAN. HIS PAST TIME PASSION WAS COACHING REC LEAGUE FOOTBALL WITH LIFE LONG FRIENDS, H.S. INGO, RICKY SKEENS, STEVEN JAMES, AL STEPHENS, DEWEY CLEMMONS, SETTIE LEGGETT, AND PAT KIRTNER. TOGETHER THEY WERE 3 TIME SUPERBOWL CHAMPS. MARK LOVED AND SAW POTENTIAL IN ALL KIDS. MARK LOVED SPENDING TIME HELPING THE YOUTH OF TODAY SEE THEIR DREAMS COME TO LIFE. THE LIST OF PEOPLE WHO’S LIVES MARK HAS TOUCHED IS ENDLESS. MARK HAD A LOVE OF LIFE AND IT SHOWED IN EVERTHING AND EVERYONE HE KNEW. MARK WAS ALWAYS LAUGHING AND JOKING WITH WHOEVER HE WAS AROUND. A MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP IN HONOR OF MARK WILL BE SET UP AT LATER DATE. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS ON TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16TH FROM 5 TO 7 P.M. AT ALL NATIONS CHURCH OF GOD - 1020 STAFFORD UMBERGER DRIVE WYTHEVILLE, VA 24382. FUNERAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD 1 P.M. ON WEDNESDAY, FEBUARY 17, 2021 AT ALL NATIONS CHURCH OF GOD WITH PASTOR CHAD DUNFORD AND PASTOR MATT TEMPLE OFFICIAINTING. INTERMENT WILL FOLLOW IN THE WEST END CEMTERY IN WYTHEVILLE.
