Obituary of Diane Gayle Semones Vaughan
Diana Gayle Semones Vaughan, 70, passed away April 8, 2021 at her home in Clebume TX. She was born December 10, 1950 in Clifton Forge Va to Melvin D and Helen Wilson Semones. The family moved to Baltimore MD where her father was an airplane mechanic for several years until they moved to Wytheville in the late 1950’s. She graduated from George Wythe High School in June 1969.
After high school, she married James E Vaughan, Jr from Fries Va. at the Wytheville Presbyterian Church. The couple were happily married for almost 52 years. Diana loved her life as a wife and mother. As she and Jim continued their lives, she home schooled her children and James joined the US Airforce. While they lived in Washington DC, Diana enjoyed jobs with several federal government agencies. She loved to sing and was active in the church in all of the many places their lives took them. While living in Duncanville TX, she kept busy being a substitute teacher. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Marie Semones Taylor.
She is survived by her husband James, sons James E. Vaughan III of Burleson Tx, Danial D Vaughan and daughter Caroline Gwen Vaughan Powell of Clebume Tx. 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren also survive.
A memorial service will be held at Bethesda Baptist Church Burleson Tx April 15, 2021 at 12:00 PM with visitation for friends and family preceding at 11:00 AM. The family will bring Diana home to Virginia to be interred beside her parents and grandparents. Graveside service will be in St Johns Cemetery Wytheville Virginia at 3:00 PM April 26, 2021.
