Obituary of Peggy Nyrell Callahan Buck

Peggy Nyrell Callahan-Buck age, 78 of Rural Retreat, Va. departed this world, surrounded by family, on Saturday April 24, 2021 after battling a long illness. Born April 27, 1942 in Wytheville, Va., she was the daughter of the late Early Vance Callahan and Thelma Ruth Grubb-Callahan of Wytheville, Va. Peggy was a 1960 graduate of Ripley High School in Ripley WV. She attended the Kimberling Church located in the Kimberling Community of Wythe County. She felt she was put on this earth to take care of the children. She loved to travel this country and cherished the time with her family. She enjoyed beach trips, camping trips, family picnics or just porch sitting with good conversation. She was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Lee Callahan-Hoyt of Rural Retreat, Va. Peggy will be forever loved and her memory cherished by her husband of 58 years Franklin D Buck of Rural Retreat, Va., daughter DeeDee Stewart (Larry) of Catawba, NC, sons Tony Buck (Kim) of Rural Retreat, Va., and Eric Buck (Rhonda) of Jeffersonville, In., grandchildren Alesha Buck, Derek Buck (Amiee ), Stacia Buck, Amy Roll (Alex), Christopher Stewart (Ashley), Justin Stewart (Lexie), Erika Buck, and Casey Stewart, beloved nephew Scott Hoyt, 18 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild and a host of cousins, in-laws and friends. Funeral service will be held 3 P.M. Tuesday, April 27, 2021 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Revered Jeff Callahan, with interment to follow at Fairview Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
