Obituary of Frances Marie Miller

Frances Marie Miller, age 95, of Wytheville was called home to be with her Lord on August 21, 2021. Formerly of Detroit and Fowlerville, Michigan, she was born to the late Orrin K. and Fannie Benedict Chamberlin in the Eden Community of Benzie County, Michigan. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years Richard H. Miller, sister, Claribel E. Luibrand, and son, Richard O. Miller. Frances graduated from Honor High School, Honor, Michigan in 1943. She graduated from the Shapiro School of Nursing at Sinai Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, in 1964 and worked as an LPN at Redford Community Hospital in Redford Township, Michigan for many years. She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Wytheville, Virginia. Previously she was active in several churches of which she was a member in a variety of ministries including WELCA, Altar Guild, Church Council Secretary, Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School, drama group, Lay Reader, Communion Assistant, and Hymn Selection Committee. From an early age, her most cherished ministry was music and celebrated as a member of church choirs in Detroit, Fowlerville, and Wytheville. For several years, she sang with the Chautauqua Festival Singers in Wytheville. She is survived by daughter Patricia L. “Trish” Peterson (Torre) of Bristol, Rhode Island, daughter-in-law, Re-Ta Harkins Miller, and son David J. Miller (Mary Jo) of Northville, Michigan. She was survived by grandchildren Maureen L. Bennett of Fortville, Indiana, Ashley M. Miller of Northville, Michigan, Corey Miller (Felicia) of Wytheville, Virginia, and Michael D. Miller of Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was also survived by great-grandsons, Thomas and Liam of Fortville, Indiana, and great-granddaughters Klynne and Jasmine of Wytheville. A service of Resurrection will be held 2 P.M. Friday, August 27, 2021, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church conducted by Pastor Buddy Beaver, with interment to follow at St. John's Cemetery.
