Obituary of Sonja C. Wright

Sonja C. Wright, of Max Meadows, VA, went to be with the Lord Thursday night on October 21st, 2021. Born February 3, 1944 in Kingsport, TN to the late Elmer Vance Cox and Eunice Bowen Cox. Sonja and her family eventually moved to Independence, VA during her youth and she settled in the Southwestern Virginia area for most of her life. Sonja was a wonderful homemaker and mother. Her favorite hobbies were cross stitching and antiquities. She is survived by her Husband of 47 years, Earl O. Wright, and her son Tommy Phelps of Roanoke, VA. She loved spending time with her two grandsons, Brandon Phelps of Lynchburg, VA, and Dustin Phelps of Lynchburg, VA. She also is survived by two nieces and one nephew. The family will be receiving of friends on Sunday October 24, 2021, between 5pm-7-pm at the Grubb Funeral Home in Wytheville, VA with a funeral service to follow at 7 p.m. with the Reverend Andrew Davis officiating. A graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. Monday at the Bridle Creek Cemetery in Independence, VA.
