Obituary of Michael S. Dix
Michael S. “Mike” Dix went to his Heavenly Home October 28, 2021. He was a member and served as Superintendent of the New Bethel United Methodist Church for several years.
Mike lived his dreams of driving a truck and school bus. He drove a truck for 44 years and retired from ABF in 2006. He drove a school bus for Wythe County Public Schools for 7 ½ years, which he loved so much.
He was a member of the Wytheville Fraternal Lodge 082 which he served as a Master of the Lodge for 2 years and where he served as District Deputy Grand Master of the 42nd district in 2015. He was a member of the Kazim Shrine Temple in Roanoke since 1991. He also served as a Captain of the Guard of Kazim Temple in 2015. He was director of the Character Unit, and President of the New River Valley Shrine Club. He was a member of the Royal Order of the Jester’s Court 59 of Roanoke.
Mike was preceded in death by his father Robert Frank Dix and mother Bertha Lambert Dix. He survived by his wife of 58 years, Patricia Cox Dix; three sons and daughters-in-law, Eddie and Kim; R.K. and Deborah; Charlie and Tina all of Wytheville; four grandchildren, Kelli Davidson and Mason of Rural Retreat; Caleb, Colt and Taylor Dix; two great grandchildren, Gatlin and Kaydix; two step grandchildren Matthew Thompson of Chilhowie and Morgan Thompson Epp and husband Allen of Meadowview; one sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Shermie Smith of Pulaski; and many extended friends and family.

Funeral service will be held 7 P.M. Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Grubb Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Cornett officiating. Graveside service will be held Sunday at 2 P.M. St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the Grubb Funeral Home.
