Obituary of Mary Jane Creath Edwards

Mary Jane (Creath) Edwards, age 84, of Wytheville, formerly of Richmond, passed away peacefully on October 31, 2016 after a short battle with cancer. She was a retired Suntrust Bank employee. She was born on February 8, 1932 daughter of the late Percy and Aline Hutchison Creath and lived life to the fullest and looked to experience as many joys as possible. Mary was fantastic in all the roles she served from sister, wife, mother, grandmother and mentor. She was a current member of the Evansham Chapter #97 Order of the Eastern Star of Wytheville and served as the Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star of the Areme Chapter #17 in Richmond. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin H. Edwards, Sr. She is survived by her children, Donna Lee Edwards and Franklin H. Edwards Jr. (Rhonda);grandchildren, Julie and Courtney; great grandchild, David. She leaves behind her beloved horse of 21 years TreyBay. Funeral service will be 7:30 PM Monday November 7, 2016 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Jason Kline followed by a service from the Evansham Chapter #97 Order of the Eastern Star. The family will receive friends Monday from 6PM until service time at the funeral home. A short graveside service will be held at 2PM Tuesday November 8, 2016 at Westhampton Memorial Gardens on Patterson Ave. in Richmond. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to be made to Lost Fantasy Animal Rescue C/O Sarah Dutton P.O. Box 948, Wytheville, VA 24382. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
