Obituary of Dallas Cecil Reed, Jr.

Dallas C. Reed Jr., age 69, passed away Friday, November 11, 2016 peacefully at his home in Wytheville with his family by his side. Dallas was preceded in death by his father, Dallas C Reed, Sr. and mother, Thurnia C. Reed both of Wytheville, and a sister Judy Reed Franklin of Chesterfield VA. Dallas was a talented builder and entrepreneur for many years. He was a dedicated and loving husband, a cherished father, a treasured brother, a beloved grandfather, and a revered friend. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Velma Edwards Reed; brother, Jerry Reed of Marion VA; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce Reed Miller and Artie Miller of Wytheville, VA; brother-in-law; Tom Franklin of Chesterfield VA; daughter and son-in law, Anissa Reed Umberger and Chip Umberger; granddaughter Chelsea Umberger; grandson, Jake Umberger all of Evington VA; several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews also survive. Funeral service will be held 2PM Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at St. Paul United Methodist Church conducted by The Reverend Rae Mullins, with interment to follow in the West End Cemetery in Wytheville. The family will receive friends Monday, November 14, 2016 from 6 until 8 PM at the Reed’s home, 300 Golf Club Lane, Wytheville, Virginia 24382. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
