Obituary of Esther Laverne Aker

Esther Laverne Smith Akers, age 83, of Wytheville, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2016. She was the daughter of the late Melvin & Sylvia Alexander Smith. Ester was preceded in death by her husband Author Sydney, Jr.; sons, Richey Gary Akers and Paul Anthony Hearn. She is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, Jeraldine and Don Ratcliff of Baltimore, Mildred Pulliam of Rural Retreat; granddaughter and spouse, granddaughter and spouse, Christina & Steve Coleman of Bluefield, WV; great grandchildren, Michael Akers, Gezzelle Heartwell, Ethan Coleman; daughter-in-law and spouse, Rebecca & Paul Lambert of Max Meadows Graveside service will be held at 2 P.M. Thursday, November 17, 2016 at West End Cemetery, conducted by The Reverend Edward Richardson. Grubb Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
