Obituary of Mary Katherine Layne Lambert

Mary Katherine Layne Lambert, 81, of the Stoney Fork Community of Wytheville, passed away on to her heavenly home on February 11, 2022. Mary was a hair stylist for Laura’s Salon of Beauty for 40 years. She enjoyed her career and made many friends. She was a lifelong member of Petunia Christian Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. Her life was focused on her family and church activities and doing whatever she could to help others. She enjoyed cooking and baking and always had a ready smile and laugh. She was proceeded in death by her parents, Robert Garnett and Ruth Ellen Blessing Layne, Her husband of 48 years Cecil Kelly Lambert, Sr., her brother, Robert Kirby “Bobby” Layne, her sister and brother-in-law, Daisy and Paul Brewster, daughter-in-law, Donna Lambert, and great granddaughter, Kelli Linae Myers. Survivors include her three sons and daughter-in-law, Kelly Lambert of Americus, Ga; Kirby Lambert and Girlfriend Regina Alley of Wytheville; Kevin and Kim Lambert of Rural Retreat; grandchildren, Kayla and Zack Myers of Rural Retreat; Brady Lambert of Wytheville; great granddaughter, Willow Kaye Myers; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, special friends and her church family. The family wishes to thank Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia for their care and the many family members and friends who sent cards, visited, and prayed for Mary during her illness. A Funeral Service will be held at 7:30 P.M. Tuesday February 15, 2022 at the Petunia Christian Church with the Reverend Dennis Martin officiating. A graveside will be held on Wednesday at 11A.M. at Mt Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:30 P.M. Tuesday at the Petunia Christian Church.
