Obituary of Elmer Clifton Stuart

Elmer Clifton “Pete” Stuart age 85, passed away on April 24, 2022. Pete was born in North Carolina on February 15, 1937 to the late Barnett and Sally Phillippi Stuart. He was also preceded in death by his grandson Will Whalen. Pete was a member of the Mt. Airy Masonic Lodge #226 and a member of the Wytheville Moose Lodge. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Glenda Horney Stuart of Wytheville; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and James Whalen of Rural Retreat; grandson and fiancé, Cory and Jessica Whalen of Rural Retreat; three great grandsons, Jackson Whalen, Rush Scott and Benjamin Six; and a host of friends and extended family. Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2022 at the Grubb Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Alderman officiating. Interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens in Rural Retreat. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the time of the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family request donation be made to the Jackson Whalen Education Fund c/o Susan Whalen 1349 Kimberlin Road – Rural Retreat, VA 24368.
