Obituary of Jerry Blankenship

Jerry Blankenship, age 66, of Wytheville, formally of Buchanan County, VA, passed away on Thursday May 12, 2022. He was a loving father, grandfather and loved spending time with his family. Jerry enjoyed fishing, playing music, was an avid hunter and a person of the Pentecostal faith. He was born in Grundy, VA to the late Cloyd and Della Mounts Blankenship on April 18, 1954. Jerry was preceded in death by his grandson, Timothy Dwayne Blankenship; brother, Billy Ray Blankenship; three sisters, Mamie Sue Tiller, Bernice Crouse, and Annie Smith. He survived by his ex-wife of 34 years and loving caregiver, Linda Blankenship; three sons, Jerry Dwayne Blankenship and wife Tonia of Wytheville; Anthony Michael Blankenship and Beth of Wytheville; Danny Adams of Bluefield, WVA; seven grandchildren, Cameron Seth Blankenship, Joshua Adam Blankenship and wife Haley of Wytheville; Wendell Blake Blankenship of Chesterfield, VA; Jacob Aaron Blankenship of Wytheville; Elizabeth Grace Jordan of Tazewell, VA; Jeremiah Dwayne Blankenship and Brayden Michael Blankenship of Wytheville; four sisters and brothers-in-law, Katie and Ralph Smith of Rural Retreat, VA; Judy Justus of Chilhowie, VA; Thelma and Terry Hubbard of Adwolfe, VA; Cynthia Burge of Marion, VA; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Rema Blankenship of Flat Top, WV; Ronnie and Kathy Blankenship of Chilhowie, VA; several nieces and nephews, friends and relatives. Memorial service will be held 6 P.M. Saturday May 14, 2022 at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Scotty Max Field officiating. Funeral service will be held 2 P.M. Sunday, May 15, 2022 at the Grubb Funeral Home with the Reverend Andy Presley officiating. Interment to follow in the Mt View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 P.M.
