Obituary of Mildred Lewis Friedman

Mildred (Mimi) Lewis Friedman died peacefully at her home in Wytheville, VA on June 13, 2022. Mimi was born and raised in Pineville, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Meade Lewis, III and Alberta Crockett Lewis, and her husband, Harvey Friedman. Mimi was a 1974 graduate of the University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, in 1988 she earned a Master of Science Degree in Psychiatric Nursing. She held the position of Director of Nursing at MCV in Richmond for many years. She is survived by her brother, Willam Meade Lewis, IV (Teresa Lewis) of Wytheville, Niece, Rebecca Lewis, Nephews, William Joseph Lewis, and James Prescott Lewis (Jessica Lewis), Stepchildren, Bart Friedman, and Liska Friedman, sister-in-law Iris Friedman. Mimi was a member of the Wytheville Presbyterian Church where she loved to sing in the choir until her health kept her from being active. She enjoyed the monthly Crockett Luncheons with cousins, and she loved her pug, Caesar, his companionship meant the world to her till his death last year. Mimi in her younger years was active, loved to travel, being with family and friends and always eager to help others when possible. In addition to her family, she leaves behind close friends, Kathy Bailey, Marilyn Campbell, and Bill Gardner. Mimi’s family would like to thank the staff at Medi Home Health & Hospice, especially Carrie, Kim, and Tracey for the care they provided and thank you to the friends and family that assisted Mimi with appointments and care over the years.
