Obituary of Gregory Allen Scott

Gregory Allen Scott age 66, of Wytheville, passed away on September 28, 2022, peacefully at his home with his wife and two daughters by his side. He was born in Wythe County to his late parents, William Howard and Mattie Agnes Lambert Scott. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lanny Keith Scott. Greg became a truck driver at age 17 and stuck to it for 48 years, with over 2 million miles driven. He had an eidetic memory for every road he traveled. When family became lost in travel they could call him their GPS. In his spare time, he enjoyed working on whatever had broken down on cars, farm equipment and enjoyed grade work with heavy equipment because he could see what others couldn’t. His quick wit and prankster nature made it easy for those who knew him to love him. He said “I don’t want no one blubbering or gawking at me y’all have me a party”. For those left to hold his memory, his wife of 40 years, Lisa Scott; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly and T-Bo Reed of Wytheville; Samantha and Matt Nipper of Christiansburg; eight grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Danny and Nancy Scott; Gary and Sandy Scott; sister, Elaine Scott; nieces, Stacey, Elizabeth and Kaitlyn; adopted family, Chelsea “Lavonne” Heldreth and her son, Carter Hubble; Kayla “B.B.” Harrington. Per Greg’s wishes a party will be held in his memory 6 P.M. on Friday September 30, 2022, at Wytheville Moose Lodge, 1350 W Main St, Wytheville, VA 24382.
