Obituary of Jean Price Blevins

Jean Price Blevins, 88, of Cripple Creek, Va., passed away peacefully on Friday, October 28th. She was born on December 17, 1933, in Wytheville, Va. but has called Cripple Creek her home for 70 years. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She was a staple in the Cripple Creek community and loved sitting on her front porch and talking to neighbors. She was a wonderful homemaker who sewed and baked for many people through the years. She was never idle and found peace and joy with random projects, yardwork and feeding the birds. She never met a stranger and would happily talk to anyone who stopped by for a chat or to get information about the Cripple Creek community. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel H. Blevins, Sr.; daughter, Vicki Anderson; parents, Roy and Louise Price; sister, Dorothy Jones; son-in-law, Roger Wohlford; granddaughter, Taylor Adkins; great-grandson, Preston Blevins and great-granddaughter, Emily Wohlford. She is survived by her son, Samuel H. Blevins, Jr. of Easton, MD; daughters and son-in-law, Rebecca Wohlford, of Speedwell and Paula and Keith Adkins, of Winston, GA; brother, Joe Price of Wytheville; five grandchildren – Christy Wohlford, Sarah Wohlford, Markus Harris, Matthew Harris and Luke Blevins; six great-grandchildren – Kayla Wohlford, Kara Wohlford, Brandon Wohlford, Devon Jonas, Waylon Harris and Jordan Bell; two great-great-grandchildren – Alice Brenchley and Kailynne Alford; many nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She is also survived by her constant companion, her loving dog, Lucy. Family will receive friends at Grubb Funeral Home Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm with a funeral service immediately following at 7pm. Interment will take place on Thursday at 11am in the St. Peter’s Cemetery in Cripple Creek.
