Obituary of Della Mae Stepp

Della Mae Stepp left this world behind on November 18 2022, to celebrate eternally with our Lord. She was born to the late Edgar and Bithie Smith Stevenson in Phelps, KY. Our mother was a force. She was strong and determined and instilled a “Never Quit” mentality in her children. In our hearts we will always cherish the memory of her kindness, her spirit and the times she would laugh contagiously and uncontrollably. She never worried about what would come after this life was done. She rested assuredly in her faith that she would forever be in the presence of God. She was of Baptist faith and loved her Church family at Crocket Tabernacle. She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Vernon Stepp, Sr. and her brothers, Sidney and Clifford Stevenson. Those left to carry her memory are daughter, Beverly Stepp (Doug Rener) of Manassas, VA; daughter, Yvonne Smith of Wytheville; sons, Paul Stepp of Blacksburg; Vernon (Shelly) Stepp, Jr. of Wytheville; David (Erica) Stepp of Grundy; and family member Patrick Smith of Wytheville; brother, William (Georgia) Stevenson of Phelps, KY; Harold (Opal) Stevenson of TN; and sister, Eula Casey of Phelps, KY; she is also survived by her nine adored grandchildren and three great grandchildren; and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews. She left behind a special friend, Terry Martin, and her beloved dog, Daisy. “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary” – Isaiah 40:31 A memorial service to celebrate Della Mae’s life will be held 2 P.M. on November 26, 2022 at the Crockett Tabernacle with the Reverend Richard Collins officiating.
