Obituary of Eugene Jones

Eugene Jones, age 85, of Wytheville, passed away Thursday, December 15, 2016. He was the son of the late Earnest and Bessie Bell Jones. Eugene retired from the United Mine Workers and attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Wytheville VA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Haga Jones; three sisters and is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Wanda & Ray Matthews of Wytheville; grandsons and spouse, Chad Eugene Matthews, Mark Christopher & Amy Matthews all of Wytheville; great grandchildren, Christopher (Jamie) James Matthews of Wytheville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Talmadge Sharitz; niece, Tammy Sharitz; special friends, Betty Funk of Speedwell, Dennis Wade of Wytheville. A graveside service will be held 2PM Monday, December 19, 2016 at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery conducted by Dennis Wade. The family will receive friends Saturday, December 17, 2016 at the home (1100 N. 3rd Street, Wytheville VA 24382) from 2PM until 4PM. In Lieu of flowers the family request donations be mailed to Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 430 Umberger St., Wytheville VA 24382 or Hospice of Southwest Virginia, 600 West Ridge Road, Wytheville VA 24382.
