Obituary of Nancy Ruth Dunford

Nancy Ruth (Arnold) Dunford, age 79, of Rural Retreat, VA, passed away January 5, 2023. She left the earth surrounded by her family, the thing she cherished most in this life. While her passing leaves a hole in our hearts, we take comfort in knowing her final hours were spent in a space overflowing with love and that she has been reunited with our father. Nancy was born in Smyth County VA on July 24, 1943 to Rosa Ellen and Claude Arnold. She was a long-time member of Rural Retreat Baptist Church and she loved serving our Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 52 years, Donald Herman Dunford, granddaughter Britta Puckett, sister Mary Garcia of Bluffton, IN, brothers Claude Arnold, Jr and Paul Arnold of Rural Retreat, VA, John Arnold, Curtis Arnold, and Tom Arnold of Wytheville, VA. She is survived by her sisters June Widner and Rose Dean of Rural Retreat, VA and Blanche Perry of Montpelier, IN, her daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Jack Russart of West Bend, WI, Denise and Doug Corvin of Conway, SC, Terri and Brian Puckett of Rural Retreat, VA and her son Derek Dunford of Rural Retreat, VA. Grandchildren Jessi Mohr (Randy), Jared Holston (Rachel), Matthew Weddle (Amanda), Jamie Holston (Heather), Ryan Russart, Nathan Russart (Katie), Jennifer Sikinger (Dave), Meghan Castaneda, Justin Holston (Mara) Dakota Corvin (Marissa), Hunter Corvin (Kia), Tori Hankla (Hunter), Nicky Russart, Wyatt Williamson, Allison Russart, Derek Dunford, Jr. (Kellie), Olivia Dunford, Jacob Puckett, Anna Dunford and 33 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. Funeral service will be held 11 A.M. Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at the Rural Retreat Baptist Church with the Reverend Jacob Vanover officiating. Interment will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 P.M. Monday at the Rural Retreat Baptist Church.
