Roger is survived by his loving wife Joy of almost 50 years, his three children – daughter Jeanene Divens and husband Jase, son Jamin Boyer and wife Joy, and daughter Jada Houser and husband Chad, along with eight grandchildren – Jarrod, Jackson, Jordan, Timothy, Eva, Jonathan, Judson, and Alexandra. Roger faithfully pastored for over 40 years, completing his calling at Baptist Union Church of Flat Ridge, VA. He preached the Word of God, led many to Christ, and encouraged a number too large to count. He loved his wife, children and grandchildren devotedly, and spent much time supporting and encouraging them. Roger was known for being hospitable, caring and compassionate to everyone he met. In addition to his commitment to God, and family, Roger also served his country in the Marines from 1969 to 1972. Roger was a musician, playing the trombone in the school band, and later learned piano. He wrote many songs throughout the years as well. As a teenager he enjoyed showing cattle, and also spent many years dairy farming. He enjoyed cars and tractors and helping Joy plant a large vegetable garden each spring. Along with pastoring, he found himself occasionally logging and running a sawmill. He also worked with Boyer Well Drilling for the last 15 years.
