Obituary of James Alan Walters
James Alan Walters, 88, of Wytheville, Virginia, passed to his heavenly home on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. He was preceded in death by parents James Manley and Emma Cordelia Walters, and brother Frank Walters.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Lou Walters; daughter Terry Allison (Paul); sons Tuffy Walters (Lawn), Mike Walters (Cyndi) and Dean Walters (Kathy). Alan is survived by ten grandchildren Jeanetta Frye (Jeff), Leslie Colucci (Tom), Anna Minutella (Nick), Nikki Gardner (John), Michael Allison, Jessica Camden (Eric), Martha Sharitz (Jacob), Alan Walters (Kelly), Emily Walters, Andrew Walters and thirteen great grandchildren. Alan is also survived by sister Geneva Wohlford and brother Charles “Tinker” Walters.
Alan founded Farmers Milling and Supply along with his brother Frank in 1958. Affectionately known as “Crow” he was a man who wore many hats - business owner, farmer, husband, father, father-in-law, brother, granddaddy, and great granddaddy. He was known as a man of fairness, and he cared about everyone; but most importantly he was a true man of God.
Visitation will be on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and the service will be on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at 3:00 p.m., both at Stage Road Chapel, 1590 Old Stage Road in Wytheville. The service will be conducted by Tim Cregger, Eugene Crockett, and Ronnie Umberger. Interment will follow in the Lebanon Lutheran Church Cemetery.
