Emily Josephine Snider Hunley of Rural Retreat, VA went to be with the Lord on Sunday April 30, 2023. Josie was born February 5, 1939, to Staley Eugene Snider and Laura Campbell Snider. She was the only sibling to graduate from high school. She graduated from Marion High School in 1958. She worked for 40+ years for Kroger, from where she retired. Josie was a marvelous cook. She loved entertaining and preparing food for her family. Josie was an accomplished artist and some of her artwork can be seen in published works by her cousin, Sally Campbell Repass. She loved planting and maintaining her flower gardens. In her earlier years, Josie enjoyed family-involved activities, such as softball, horse shows, volleyball and bocci ball games, as well as Mexican Train Dominoes and Uno card games. She always held a special place in her heart for her horse, Ginger. In July of 1976, Josie married the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Hunley. They shared 46 years of marriage. Josie was a life-long caretaker and willingly took on that role for her father, both sisters, brother-in-law, and husband when it was necessary. She never complained for the countless sacrifices she made caring for her loved ones. She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant sister during childbirth; a brother, William (Buster) Snider (Thelma); twin sister, Irene Snider Pruitt (Clyde); sister, Sallie Haulsee and infant great niece Gindy Snider.
