Charles Ray Cassell Obituary

Charles Ray Cassell, age 93, passed away peacefully in his home on May 14th, 2023. He was born on May 26th, 1929, in Wytheville, VA, to the late John Caddell Cassell and Pearl Green Cassell. He is also preceded in death by his brothers Robert, Ralph, Fred, and James Cassell and sisters Alma Johnson, and Lila Archer, four sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law. Charles Ray Cassell is a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War in 1951.


Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years Geraldine Cassell, brothers Alfred and Douglas Cassell, and one sister-in-law, several nieces and nephews, and friends he loved like family.


A funeral service will be held 7 P.M. Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at Grubb Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Doctor Jon Smith. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5 P.M. until service time. A private graveside service will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Legion, PO Box 133, Wytheville, VA 24382.
