Obituary of Doris Rose Blevins Testerman
Doris Rose Blevins Testerman, a lifelong resident of Wytheville, VA passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Born in Marion, VA, the daughter of the late Garfield and Mattie Weaver Blevins on April 11, 1937 and lived to be 80 years old.
Doris received her degree in Nursing from the second nursing graduate class at Wytheville Community College in 1970 and practiced nursing at Wythe County Community Hospital for over 35 years. She loved home, especially loved the view of the mountains from her favorite chair. She enjoyed gardening and bird watching and was an avid collector of beautiful glassware, in addition to expressing her pride in her grandchildren.
Doris was a faithful member of the First Assembly of God Church on Cassell Road. She served in the capacity of Deacon, Secretary of Women’s Ministries and Sunday School Teacher.
Doris is survived by her husband, Charlie Bill Testerman; daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Allen Wolford, Cynthia and Phillip Abromitis; grandchildren, Dr. Ann Wolford, Dr. AJ Wolford, 2nd Lieutenant Eric Abromitis and Nicholas Abromitis; brothers, Joseph Blevins and Dennis Blevins.
A memorial service will be held 7 P.M. Thursday, January 18, 2018 at The First Assembly of God Church, 300 Cassell Road, Wytheville, VA 24382. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 P.M. until service time. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made The First Assembly of God Church, 300 Cassell Road, Wytheville, VA 24382.
